This is without a doubt my favorite way to eat oats! Cooking them on the stove makes them so much thicker, creamier, and flavorful!
This is on repeat for me when it comes to breakfast, and I love dressing it up with different toppings for added nutritional value!
Check out some of my creations:
Here's how I do it:
1/3 cup rolled oats
2/3 tsp chia seeds
1 cup of almond milk (or just enough to slightly submerge your oats)
2 tsp pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of sea salt
1 tsp cinnamon (more or less to taste)
1 tbsp nut butter
1. Combine all ingredients in a pot on the stove over medium heat.
2. Heat contents, stirring occasionally.
3. Cook until liquid has been absorbed, oats and chia seeds are puffy, and you've reached a thick, creamy consistency (I recommend staying in the kitchen the whole time they're cooking).
4. Top with desired toppings (i.e. fruit, nuts, seeds, etc.)
